Signs of an Opioid Overdose

Recognizing the signs of an opioid overdose can save a life. Here are some things to look for:

  • Small, “pinpoint pupils”
  • Extremely pale face
  • Slow, weak, or no breathing
  • Unable to be awakened 
  • Unable to speak
  • Choking or gurgling sounds
  • Limp body
  • Cold and/or clammy skin
  • Purple or blue-colored fingernails or lips
  • Vomiting
